Environment Policy Launch

Saturday 14th June

Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre
Thoresby Miners Welfare

Bishop George writes:

The environment in general, and climate change in particular, is a matter of growing concern.  I am, therefore, delighted that the Diocesan Synod has taken the positive step of authorising this policy.

As you will see from the programme the morning includes practical involvement as well as the opportunity to ehar top quality speakers.  Paul Bodenham from Christian Ecology Link will talk about Christian Concern for the environment.  David Shreeve, Environmental Adviser to the Archbishops' Council, will outline the Church of England's response.

There will be a copy of Growing Greener Churches for each clergy person as well as one for every parish.  These packs contain the Diocesan Policy which includes a core document and action plan based on the Eco-congregations programme, plus brief background papers.  There will also be a booklet; "How many light bulbs does it take to change a Christian?" and information on other environmental organisations.

I warmly encourage every clergy person, together with parish representatives to come to the launch event on June 14th and receive their Growing Greener Churches pack.
