Youth Evangelism Fund

I have some exciting news for young people aged 11-20 and those working with them across the diocese!

Following the success of the pilot projects in 2005, and agreement of the Archbishops' Council to proceed with this initiative,  Southwell & Nottingham Diocese has been chosen as one of eight dioceses this year to receive money from the Youth Evangelism Fund.

Southwell & Nottingham Diocese has been allocated a sum of £23,284. The money will be given to young people in parishes, groups of parishes, deaneries, schools, colleges, or fresh expressions of church, so that they can share their faith with other young people in ways that make sense to them.

Application forms (which are easy to complete) should be submitted to me, the Diocesan Youth Ministry Adviser, before Monday October 2nd in order to be sent to the decision making group in London by the final closing date of 16th October.

All documents related to the fund including: a cover letter from me, a copy of the aims of the project, an information sheet about the process, and an application form, are available on the download section of the diocesan website.  I'd be grateful if you could promote this to groups you might meet in the next few weeks across the diocese.

Information will also be made available to young people already in contact with the Diocesan Youth Ministry Adviser, to volunteer youth leaders and employed workers, at Diocesan Synod, the clergy mailing, youth and childrens mailings as well as a downloadable resource on the diocesan website.

We are also providing opportunities for youth leaders to consider how they support young people in sharing their faith at sessions at the Childrens & Youth Workers Training Day on Saturday 7th October, Queen Elizabeth School Mansfield.  There is also a residential weekend at Dovedale for young people aged 14-20 with Nottingham Youth For Christ helping them to become more confident in sharing their faith October 13th-15th.  More details are available from the Education Office.

Finally I'd like to say that this is an awesome opportunity for the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham to be under the spotlight nationally for it's work with young people, particularly in helping them to manage their own projects and to share their faith with their friends.

I do hope you'll share this exciting news as you meet people across the diocese and refer them to me for more information
