National President of the Royal British Legion joins Minster service
The national president of the Royal British Legion will be attending this year’s county service and parade at Southwell Minster this Sunday (24th June 2007) at 6pm.
Former Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, Air Marshall Ian McFadyen, who had a long and distinguished career in the RAF, will join local members of the Nottinghamshire’s Royal British Legion for their annual service.
The preacher will be the Archdeacon of the RAF, The Ven Ray Pentland.
The former chaplain to the Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, Canon Robin Turner, has been co-ordinating the service in his new role as the County President for the Legion.
Other key figures joining in the event will include the Bishop of Sherwood, the Rt Revd Tony Porter and the Lord Lieutenant, Sir Andrew Buchanan, who will take the salute.
The event will begin with the parade at 6pm, followed by a service in the Minster.
