Bishop of Sherwood on day visit to Retford
The Bishop of Sherwood will spend the day in Retford this week on (Wednesday, 29th November 2006), when he will visit children and adults with learning difficulties at two centres in the town.
The Rt Revd Tony Porter, the Bishop of Sherwood, will spend the morning with clergy before going to meet children at St Giles Special School for disabled children and those with learning difficulties. He will also visit adults with learning difficulties at Stephen House - an outreach facility, where people can access facilities in the community, such as courses and activities, using the house as a base.
Tomorrow’s visit will be Bishop Tony’s 13th ‘Deanery Day’ visit getting to know the different parts of the diocese, from the rural and the inner city to former coalfield communities.
Photo opportunity: The Bishop will be available for a photo opportunity with some of the children at St Giles Special School, Retford at 1.45pm on Wednesday, 29th November 2006 and also for a photograph with people from Stephen House at 3.30pm on the same day.
In the evening the Bishop will talk to church members from across the area about church growth at St Saviour’s, Retford at 7.30pm.
The Bishop will be spending a day in the Newstead area on December 5th.
